The Rev'd Vince Short
We welcome Vince to this important task in the parish of St Paul, Beckenham. The period since December 2008 has been challenging for your parish.
I am very grateful for your Ministry Leadership Team, the Archdeacon, the Area Dean and the team of other Clergy and ministers who have made certain that the worship and mission have continued here, and indeed flourished, during the last two years.
Before training for the ordained ministry, Vince worked for twenty years in banking and accounting. After beginning with Lloyds Bank, Vince moved on to several jobs in industry, before returning to banking as Operations Manager for a small French-owned bank based in Westminster.
Vince’s calling to the ordained ministry was explored whilst worshipping at Stocks Green Church Plant, part of the parish of St. John, Hildenborough. He completed his ordination training at Oak Hill College, London and was ordained Deacon in 1997 and Priest in 1998. After serving a four year curacy in the parish of St. Philip and St. James, Chatham, Vince has served the last nine years as Vicar of St.Barnabas, Istead Rise.
Vince is married to Veronica and they have two married daughters, Beth and Olivia, and two granddaughters. He lists among his hobbies; music, tennis and cycling.
I know that Vince will receive good support in his ministry among you and it is my prayer that he and Veronica will settle well here and that with them you will be enabled to work together to discover God’s purposes through your worship, study and witness to Jesus Christ.
